Muhammad Azri Azhar bin Amran was born on September 19, 1999, in Malaysia. A right-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed lower-order batter, he developed his skills through the Malaysian Cricket Association age-group structures and represented the Malaysia Under-19 team before advancing into senior domestic and national squads.
Azri made his official T20I debut for Malaysia on August 31, 2024, against Myanmar during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi. Operating primarily as a disciplined seam bowler, he established himself as a reliable option in Malaysia's white-ball bowling attack across regional domestic and franchise competitions.
During the 2025 season, Azri solidified his position within the national squad, featuring in domestic white-ball tournaments and international friendly fixtures as part of Malaysia's broader fast-bowling rotation. In the 2026 season, Azri featured regularly across Malaysia's international campaigns. In May 2026, he registered his career-best T20I bowling figures of 2 for 24 against Indonesia during their bilateral T20I series at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval.
He subsequently represented Malaysia in the 2026 Asian Games Men's T20 Qualifier in Singapore in June 2026, the ACC Men's Challenger Cup, and the bilateral T20I series against the United Arab Emirates in September 2026. By late September 2026, Azri was named in Malaysia's national squad for the 2026 Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, featuring in their opening group-stage matches.
